Part 4.2: Elementary acoustic loads of a loudspeaker

Pressure radiated by a single source

Acoustic power which is transmitted by a source to the medium is written:

where is a real part of radiation impedance and is an acoustic output from the source. This power is propagated step by step, "to infinity".

For a monopolar source, pressure field is written:

where is the volume velocity of the source and is a solid angle in which the source radiates.

( : infinite space, : half-space, etc).

RemarqueRemark

Equation 1 shows that:

  • pressure amplitude decreases with , which leads to the existence of spherical waves,

  • it is proportional to the acceleration as and to the surface S of the source ( ),

  • wave traveling time is (phase )
