Taking the losses into account in electroacoustics

In electroacoustical problems, it is necessary to take into account the losses in the following cases:

  • real loudspeakers have leaks even with careful building,

  • wave guides in which the viscothermal losses are to be taken into account on the walls,

  • small cavities (microphones for example) for which the viscothermal losses influence the system's damping factors.

We are interested here in the the losses that exist in acoustic speakers. The hypothesis is that these losses are due to small acoustic ducts in which only viscous effects exist.
